klein stukje vast :)

The depth of water that the ranchu is kept should be between of 15-25cm. For Black baby ranchu(bbrs) and Colour baby ranchu(cbrs), a depth of 10-15cm is ideal. When the depth of water is deep, the tail core has a tendency to stand hence ranchu swimming becomes poor while lower depth, the tail core sits.

To promote strong growth, feed small amounts each time, many times a day, ranchu grow mass but pay extra attention as water condition deteriotes very quickly, over-doing it ranchu becomes unhealthy, tail becomes weaker. Practise it only when mass of ranchu is what is to be achieved. Giving the ranchu time in between to swim is good. Lesser times and adequate amounts of feed a day, ranchu grow in length.

Different frequency of water change gives different effect on the ranchu. Incorrect management of water change, ranchu health would deteriorate.
Understanding water quality deterioration, air bubbles should not spread over more than 60cm in diameter. Proper maintainence, cleaning of tubs helps to maintain quality of water, when dense green water kicks in too quickly, water deteriorates faster hence water change is needed.

Mooie kick-off.

Water
Preparation Of Water-
Good quality of anti clorine/chloramines is strongly recommended. (Nutrafin, Stress Guard or Seachem Prime)

Water Ageing-
Ageing of water 48hours helps the ranchu to acclimatize better.
Water Change Frequency-
Temperature above 28degC, 4days water change 100% is literally the longest period of time the quality of water can be well maintained but a few other factors has to be put into consideration. Eg, stock density and feeding. Good growth rate. Performing 20% water change everyday can be done to prolong the quality of water to a week, better colouration is achieved. When water turns green, the appetite of ranchu decreases, reduce feeding.
Water Quality-
Different frequency of water change gives different effect on the ranchu.

There are many factors that will determine the overall growth of your ranchu. From it’s parents(genetics) down to ph level, nitrogen cycle, water change(water chemistry) and types of ranchu food and feeding interval(diet) will all determine the growth of your ranchu.
The overall health and our ability to maintain condition of the ranchu is a factor on it’s growth and colouration and and if given a good ranchu and unable to maximize it’s potential, it’ll just look second grade or worst hence, it’s very important to keep your ranchu healthy in order to achieve good growth rate. When your ranchu falls sick, wen will shrink, colour will fade and ranchu will be thin as it waste a lot of it’s energy combating parasites and bacteria hence growth will slow. It is advisable to monitor and understand your ranchu in order to react and treat them appropriately as soon as possible if it happens to contract any forms of disease. Quarantining your ranchu is the basic of ranchu keeping that must be understood.

Maintaining good water parameters is another factor that should not be overlooked. The whole idea is to keep ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as low as possible therefore, regular water change at least once a week is a need. During the hottest period of the year, it is advisable to do a 100% water change every 2-3 days.
Selecting the types of food to feed your ranchu and when to feed them with the appropriate amount during which period is also vital to the overall growth of the ranchu. The diet for ranchu is bloodworms and pellet food. For bloodworms, buy those that are nicely curled up when you defroze them and they should be red and not light brown in colour. There are many different types of pellet food for ranchu available in the market and select only premium grade pellet food, it costs more and even much more for imported pellet food from Japan but it’s worth the money you pay for.
Generally, the conformation, conditions and genes of it’s parents and line passed down, conditions of breeding ponds and diet for fry and intervals during the initial stages will already have taken an effect by the time you buy them. Genetically, since DNA cannot be corrected by hobbyists, a proper long term breeding programs whereby desirable traits are kept for further breeding while undesirable ones are removed would be ideal,
Therefore, if you wish to achieve desirable growth rate, you should purchase not only from reputable breeders or fish farms but one you are familiar with who pays attention to attend and care for their ranchu.

deze quote vind ik wel leuk omschreven:

Ranchu- Life Cycle
Ranchu at birth is an incomplete beauty.

Ranchu in different environment, under different ranchu hobbyists system of keeping, it's overall form changes and would turn out differently over a period of time in comparison to other ranchu keeper's ranchu.

One must first understand the fundamentals. In ranchu keeper, environment, water and food is like what an makeup artist needs to understand colours, skin tones, color matching, contrast, shading etc. A good ranchu keeper has to have a variety of methods to groom a ranchu, when there is only one method of keeping, the grooming of a ranchu is done likewise an artist, there is no perfect match of colours and so often they will have to mix them to get the right one.

A ranchu is like a blank canvas, what you wish it to be, it's created to individual expression of it's ideal beauty.

Ranchu is an Art.
